The Brenham Police Department Explorer Post 161 is an advanced scouting program which introduces young people to the law enforcement field and encourages them to stay within the field after graduation from high school and/or college. Members of the Explorers perform community service and work with local citizen and civic organizations. Currently the program has two competition teams that participate in local, state and national contests. The Explorers meet the first and third Thursday of each month.
