The Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Board assists the City of Brenham in the appropriate allocation of local hotel occupancy tax funds for the promotion of tourism.
Seven members are appointed by the City Council to serve a two-year term, and all members are limited to three consecutive terms. All terms expire on December 31st of the appropriate calendar year. The City Manger assigns a staff member to serve as support for this Board.
The use of local hotel occupancy tax funds is defined by the State
of Texas Tax Code. The HOT Board receives and reviews applications
for appropriations from the local hotel occupancy fund and
recommends distribution of those funds to the City Council. The
Board also reviews the actual expenditures to be certain that the
funds are being used to promote tourism, as defined by in the Texas
statues.
