This 1923 American LaFrance known by the name of Samanthe is the Brenham Fire Department's first motorized pumper. Samanthe has been completely restored at the Texas Fire Museum
in Dallas, Tx. She has been restored to replicate her condition on April 2, 1923 when she rode into Brenham on a rail car from Elmira, New York. Brenham Firemen E.P. Davis and E.W. Pflughaupt took delivery for the City of Brenham. Mayor A.A. Hacker accepted the engine. There were only 34 fire engines of this type that were manufactured between 1900 and 1930's. Samanthe is only one of three that are known to be in existence. The Samathe restoration project began in 2004 when the late Billy Sohns remembered the Brenham Fire Department in his will. During the past four years the Brenham Fire Department members have raised the remaining $65,000.00 to complete the $90,000.00 restoration project. She is housed at the Brenham Fire Company #1 museum.
