Water Treatment Plant

The City of Brenham's mission is to provide water services, which satisfy the present and future needs and expectations of our customers. Our performance is directed at meeting and exceeding all regularly requirements. Our objective is to provide superior water for public safety, consumption value and water volume.

The City of Brenham has an excellent long-range water supply already secured for the needs of the city. At this time the city is contracted with the Brazos River Authority and is receiving 2.4 mgd (million gallons per day) on yearly average from Lake Somerville, with the plant rated at 6.98 mgd capacity.

The city of Brenham draws water form Lake Somerville on a continuous basis. The water is measured and purchased from the Brazos River Authority. From Lake Somerville, the water is diverted to the Water Treatment plant in town.
The system storage is 900,000 gallons of overhead storage and 2.7 million gallons of ground storage.

City of Brenham has an excellent long-range water supply, treatment, and distribution capacity.

Quality & Reliability
Excellent quality, meets all requirements of TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) and EPA (Enivormental Protection Agency)

Service & Availability
The Water Treatment Plant is operated 24 hours a day. In the event you notice that your water is discolored, has an odor, or does not taste right, you can call the Public Utilities Dispatch office 24 hours a day at 979-337-7400, and they will dispatch the proper department to investigate the problem.
