Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection
Dennis Moehlmann- Superintendent
The City of Brenham water distribution system provides water to customers within the city limits. Our distribution lines run from the city's main in the street to the customers water meter. The city currently serves 4,861 residential customers and 1,245 commercial customers with water services.
*Customer water lines between the city's meter and the customer's house are the responsibility of the customer. If you have any problems with these lines, the city will come out to turn the water on or off at the meter for repairs free of charge.
*If you are experiencing low water pressure, the City of Brenham can check the water pressure at your meter to see if you are receiving adequate pressure. The city will do a gallons per minute test a the meter. If you are receiving less than 10 gallons per minute the city will replace the tap free of charge. If you are receiving more than 10 gallons per minute the city cannot replace your tap free and we suggest you talk with a plumber to see it the problem could be in your lines.
* Customers may choose to have a "split" water meter. A split water meter is used for irrigation purposes and only 1" water service can be split. The advantage to having a split meter is that your will not be charged a sewer charge for the water consumption on this meter. Please contact the City of Brenham Public Utilities office for pricing and specifications on the meter sizes.
** During the hot Summer months, each year, the ground shifting and cracking can cause our main water lines to burst in the ground, causing water to bubble up in the middle of the street. If you see water running out of cracks in the street or other places please contact the City of Brenhams Public Utilities office 24 hours a day at 979-337-7400
