Brenham Police Department
The City of Brenham and the Police Department are pleased to welcome Rex Phelps to the position of Chief effective June 1. Phelps, who is joining the department after two years as the chief in Forest Hills, Texas, has been in the law enforcement field for over 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience, including patrol, CID, narcotics and command. Phelps is replacing former chief Glen Fowler, who left to take a position in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in December, 2008.
The Brenham Police Department is an organization of professionals committed to the philosophy of community policing in its daily operations and functions. Community Policing is based upon a partnership between the police and the community whereby the police and the community share a responsibility for identifying, reducing, eliminating and preventing problems that impact community safety and order. By working together, the police and the community can reduce the fear and incidence of crime and improve the quality of life in Brenham neighborhoods.
