City Government

The City of Brenham has a Council-Manager form of government. Under this form of government, the elected City Council sets the policies for the operation of the city's government. The administrative responsibility rests with the City Manager who is appointed by the City Council. The City Council consists of seven members, a Mayor and six Council members. Elections are held annually, with the Mayor and Council members each serving three-year terms. All powers of the City are vested in the Council, which enacts local legislation, adopts budgets and determines policies. Council is also responsible for appointing Municipal Court Judges, as well as members of the different boards and commissions that consist of community members.

City Council meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of each month beginning at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located on the second floor of City Hall, 200 West Vulcan.
