Boards & Committees
The most effective way for citizens to become involved directly in governmental programs is to serve on a citizen board or committee. Citizen boards are not legislative bodies; the extent of their authority and power depends on state statutes and/or city ordinances or resolutions.
The role of a citizen board member is important in the total picture of the city while providing citizens an opportunity to make a difference in the community. Citizen boards seek to solve problems, not merely address results. Service on a board takes effort, imagination, courage, innovation, and patience. The following boards are appointed by the Mayor and/or City Council to assist the them in their decision making process. Agenda meeting notices for each board or committee are posted on their individual web page.
