 Application for Utility Service

Application for utility service may be made at the Utility Billing Office at the City Hall, 200 W. Vulcan. Each applicant is required to sign a Customer Application at the Utility Billing Office. There is a standard $15 fee each time a customer connects or reconnects utilities.

All applicants are required to make a cash deposit in accordance with the provisions of Section 1005 of the City of Brenham Rate Tariff Schedules:

A homeowner's deposit is $150
Renter's deposit is $250
Non-owner, Permanent Structure without Electric or Gas Service $145
Temporary Service deposit $300
Contractor’s deposit for each new construction $100

The minimum deposit for commercial or industrial customers is $300 or twice the established average monthly bill. Commercial or industrial customers have several options on how they may handle this amount. Please contact the Utility Billing Department (979/337-7520) for details.

When service is ordered disconnected by the customer, the deposit will be refunded to the customer after disconnection and determination of any amount still due the City. If there are charges due the City, the deposit will be applied to the payment of these charges and any remaining portion will be returned to the customer.
